Technical Localization: German and Russian to English

High-Precision Software & IT Localization

If your code is world-class, your English UI should be too. I provide precision software localization from German and Russian into American English, specializing in Linux ecosystems, SaaS, and cloud infrastructure.

Why Choose a Silicon Valley Native for Technical Translation?

  • Silicon Valley intuition: As a Santa Clara native, I ensure your “Denglish” or “Runglish” is replaced with phrasing that sounds natural to US users and investors.
  • Technical literacy: I’m a Linux power-user who understands Unix logic. I don’t just translate words like “daemons” or “kernels”—I ensure your API documentation and IT manuals make sense to a US DevOps engineer.
  • ATA-certified authority: I am ATA-certified for German to English, ensuring your technical documentation meets the highest professional standards of accuracy and style.
  • Consistency via modern tech: I use state-of-the-art CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools to maintain identical terminology across every update, saving you time and money on future releases.

Strategic Localization Services

Localization goes beyond simple text conversion. I adapt your product to the US locale, including:

  • UI/UX strings: software menus, cloud dashboards, and mobile app interfaces
  • Technical documentation: knowledge bases, API documentation, and whitepapers
  • Compliance & legal: user agreements, privacy notices, and SOC 2 policies.
  • Cultural adaptation: numbers, currencies, date formats, and measurement systems.

Our Process: How We Work Together

  1. Scope: You send the files (HTML, PO, JSON, Office, etc.) and reference materials.
  2. Quote: I provide a fixed price and a clear delivery timeline.
  3. Kickoff: A 50% prepayment secures your spot in my production queue.
  4. Production: I localize the content, clarifying technical nuances with your team as needed.
  5. Delivery: You receive files in their original format, ready for implementation.
  6. Finalization: Final payment is due upon delivery of the completed project.

Cost & Payment

  • Rates: Typically $0.18/word for translation/writing, or $80/hour [or the equivalent in euros] for UI/UX editing and consulting.
  • Payment Methods: I accept SEPA, ACH, Zelle, credit/debit cards, and PayPal.
  • Note: For mailed check payments under $1000, a $14 processing fee applies.

And What Exactly Is Localization?

Localization means adapting your product or service in order to make it linguistically and culturally appropriate to the target locale (country/region and language) where it will be used or sold. The objective is to make the user feel that the product was developed specifically for them, with their interests and needs in mind. Localization entails customization related to: numbers (date, time, address, phone-number format), local currencies and measurement systems, keyboard usage, symbols, icons, colors, graphics, and legal requirements. And it takes language and culture into account to enable your content to achieve its objective.
