The Silicon Valley Perspective

I was born in Santa Clara, in the heart of Silicon Valley, and grew up alongside the personal computer revolution. My first experiences with technology weren’t just as a user—I got into electronics as a hobby, and played around with an early PC and a game console. I learned the logic of systems from the ground up. Later, at university, I used the Unix command line long before “User Experience” was a household term. And early in my career I designed complex macros for Microsoft Excel. Today, I combine that lifelong technical intuition with over a decade of professional linguistic expertise. I don’t just translate words; I translate the innovation and precision of European tech into the narrative and style of the American market.
Why Partner with Scott Ellsworth?
Clients choose Ellsworth Language Services when the stakes are high and “good enough” translation isn’t an option.
- ATA-certified authority: I am certified by the American Translators Association (ATA) for German to English—a credential held by only a small percentage of practitioners.
- A “power-user” background: Whether it’s Linux, MacOS, or Windows, I operate within the same ecosystems your developers do. My interest in cybersecurity and UX means I understand the why behind your documentation.
- Global context, local voice: With four years in the Kyrgyz Republic and a year at Georg-August University in Göttingen, I understand the cultural DNA of your team. I then refine that into native, high-impact American English.
- Deep industry roots: A former board member of the Northern California Translators Association*, I remain connected with my profession and adhere to the industry’s ethics and standards.
*(now called the California Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (CAPIT).)

Beyond the Screen
I’ve always loved languages. While I’ve studied over a dozen languages—from Latin to Japanese—I focus my professional practice exclusively on German and Russian into English. This specialization ensures that every project receives the native-speaker polish that US customers and investors demand.
When I’m not polishing technical documentation or coaching founders, you’ll likely find me exploring the world. Having lived in about twenty countries, I bring an international perspective to every US market entry project I touch.
